Coeur d’ Alaine

After leaving Montana, we found ourselves in Idaho. Around lunchtime, we stopped at the community of Coeur d’ Alaine on the side of a lake by the same name. The lake was very nice and made me wish I had my boat with me.

We parked the RV in a public lot and took a short hike through the woods and along the lakeshore that we were not really prepared for (three of us were in flip-flops). Along the way, Keegan wanted to strip down to his boxers and jump into the lake. He accomplished the first half of his goal before the parents put the kibosh on swimming. Conor stepped up and relieved Keegan of his clothes just as another amused family hiked by and we all had a good laugh.

On returning to the RV, we found that the $1 parking fee we had paid had become a $40 ticket because we took up two spots. I gave them an extra buck and moved on thinking that town must keep its taxes down by fleecing those passing through.

The boys did a little skateboarding while we made sandwiches at the RV.

While the family enjoyed their short visit, I would recommend avoiding visiting Coeur d’ Alaine , ID, especially if you have an RV until they end their parking scam.

Too bad you didn't get further south to see McCall, where we spent the last 5 years. Gorgeous country that Idaho is... !
