Girdwood

After food shopping in Anchorage, we drove down the Seaward Highway to see some spectacular ocean front scenery along the Cook Inlet.

We stopped for the night in Girdwood to do laundry at the #1 Laundromat in the country. It was in a very nice log cabin building, exceedingly clean, and the attendant was very friendly and helpful.

We spend the night in the parking lot for the Aliasco Ski Area as they allow camping in the offseason for $10 per night. Keegan and Patrick played soccer, Conor went for a run and Michelle made a fantastic pasta dinner for us.

The real reason we stopped in Girdwood was for the cinnamon buns. Our neighbors, the Richards, had spent the summer RVing in Alaska last year and were connoisseurs of this baked delight. In the morning we visited The Bake Shop to pick up our buns right out of the oven and they were wonderful.

Before leaving town, we went back to the Laundromat to revel in the location and to take a shower. Since showers were $6 for 12 minutes (more expensive that most places for a longer amount of time), someone in the RV decided that we would double up and each take half of the shower time.

So glad you liked the cinnamon buns - sounds like you are having a BALL - safe driving home - we can't wait to hear details and see all of the pictures!

Best to all, Rob and Betsy
