Fishing in Alaska

Our first activity at the Glacier Bay Lodge was to do a little fishing. They boys grabbed our gear and headed for a tidal inlet.

Patrick and Conor caught the first fish of the trip. They both caught a salmon and got their lines tangled while reeling them in. Patrick’s was a bit small so we let it go. Conor’s was a keeper.

Pop was the next to bring in a salmon. Keegan caught a starfish, but we think he just hooked it for show.

The next day Keegan caught his first fish. It was not a salmon, but I’m not sure what it was. The good news for Keegan is that he does not need a fishing license so he can fish almost every night were are in Alaska.

We later learned from another fisherman that when we left, a very large bear was following us and our fish! We never knew it, however a park ranger did stop me awhile later to warn me that a large bear was seen in the area and to watch out.
