Flight from Glacier Bay back to Skagway.
Just before leaving for our ride to the airport. We found a porcupine in the tree outside out rooms.
On the way to the airport, we took a short hike to a 1957 airplane wreck that was just outside the park. It was an old growth forest with lots of moss everywhere, but the plane was in surprising good condition for crashing 53 years before.
Our return flight to Skagway could not have been more different than our first trip. Coming over we had dense cloud cover and followed the water. Coming back we followed the park and we were able to see the route we took by water the day before – from 2000 feet!
We were able to get a whole different perspective on the glaciers when we flew above them and saw not only the front wall, but most of the flow behind it as well!
