Back to the Yukon

Our next destination is Dawson City in the Yukon. To get there we need to drive about 450 miles. After landing from our flight to Glacier Bay National Park, we set out north, leaving about 7:00 pm.

Just past Whitehorse, we stopped for the next at the Tahiti Hot Springs RV Park just before 10:00 pm. The pool was just closing so we did not get to go for a dip until morning. This hot spring was very different that the last one we visited as it was a cement swimming pool filled with hot mineral water. Unfortunately for us, they drain the pools every night so when we get in, it was not yet half full. You also had to hold a rope to turn on the showers, which was not very user friendly!

The next day we made it to our final destination in the Yukon – Dawson City. The town itself ( just because it has city in its name, does not make it so) is very cute, with brightly colored buildings that look like they are out of an old western movie. The roads are unpaved (packed dirt) so when it rains, like it did on our first night here, your feet get muddy.

We are parked at the Gold Rush Campground right on the edge of town.
