Diamond Tooth Gertie’s Casino

In Canada, the drinking age is 19, which is also the age you need to be to enter a casino. Diamond Tooth Gertie’s was the very first casino in Canada and Patrick and Conor wanted to test their luck, so off we went.

A short walk from our RV park, we got there in time for the 10:00 pm show. We got a table front and center (the only one left) and heard some nice music and watched some bawdy dancers in period costumes strut their stuff.

Gertie herself come over to our table and took a liking to 19 year old Patrick.

After the show, we were off to the roulette tables. Patrick and Conor were quick learners and Conor had a streak of luck that put him well ahead for the night. Patrick was not so lucky so he moved on and tried his hand at the slot machines.

After watching another show, Conor and Bill tried their hand at Black jack. Bill’s first hand was a blackjack 21. Conor enjoyed playing a quite a few hands. While we both gave back some of our winnings at black jack, at the end of the night both Conor and Bill were still ahead.

We got out of there a little after 1:00am and it was still light out!
